Collection: Pigmentation

Pigmentation refers to the natural colouring of your skin, determined by the amount and type of a pigment called melanin. Produced by specialised cells called melanocytes, melanin also determines the colour of your hair and eyes and acts as a primary defence mechanism against harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Pigmentation disorders are primarily classified into three categories based on how they affect melanin: Hyperpigmentation (darker skin), Hypopigmentation (lighter skin), and Depigmentation (total loss of color).
